The bear symbolises the lament and strength spoken of in Isaiah 59:11, a reminder that sorrow exists yet courage endures.

The eye represents God’s knowing presence as described in Psalm 139, affirming that nothing is unseen or overlooked, even the smallest detail.

The heart recalls the teaching of Matthew 6:21, where love and treasure are bound together, reminding us that value lies even in what others cast aside.

The tear reflects both grief and the promise of healing from Revelation 21:4, acknowledging pain while holding onto hope that every tear will one day be wiped away.

Breathing new life into the worn and stained, with beauty and resilience.

Growling Stitch exists to transform what is torn into something renewed. Each garment is stitched with honesty, sorrow, and hope — reminding us that imperfection is never the end of the story.

“We all growl like bears; we moan mournfully like doves. We look for justice, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far from us.”

From Worn to Wonderous

Together, these elements form the spirit of Growling Stitch:

a growl for brokenness, an eye that knows, a heart that treasures, and a tear that heals.

Each garment we create carries this vision, transforming worn textiles into expressions of love, memory, and renewal.

Our Mission
Traceable and Transparent

At Growling Stitch, we believe every garment carries a story, and we honour that story with care and transparency. Our work begins with substandard items from thrift stores. Pieces that could not be restored or resold. These discarded textiles become our raw material, and with each transformation, we document their journey.

For every piece we create, you will find images and details of the original garment. We also share a clear breakdown of the costsfrom materials to labour — so that you know exactly what goes into each item. This is our way of ensuring traceability and of valuing both the history of the fabric and the work of the maker.

Our mission is simple: to transform what was once rejected into something treasured, while remaining open and honest about how we do it.
